Green Ethics

Croissant Neuf Summer Party is very proud of being the greenest event in the U.K.
Croissant Neuf have always championed renewable energy and sustainability. Our life styles and our events reflect our beliefs that it’s easy to live a low impact life style and still have the maximum amount of fun!
All of the electricity on site is generated by solar panels and wind generators, from the massive sound system and stage lights of the main stage to the toilet lighting and lights above each gate and fire point. Everything that possibly can be, is recycled. All the food and drink on site is organic, as local as possible and fairly traded where appropriate. We will have experts on site giving talks and running displays on renewable energy and sustainability and the U.Ks largest supplier of solar panels will be on site.

CNSP Green Awards

In 2009 we were awarded multiple awards for sustainability.
Agreenerfestival.com judged us to be the most environmentally sound event in the U.K, topping the list of “Outstanding Green Festivals”. We scooped the top green award at the Virtual Festivals UK Festival Awards and in recognition of our efforts to keep the event from having a negative impact on the locality we also won the top Adventa Award for Sustainable festivals in Monmouthshire.

Some Croissant Neuf Energy Facts
By using solar power instead of diesel generators on site to power the stages and lights we are saving over 1.5 tonnes of CO2.

The LED lighting system in the Big Top uses less power than an average household TV.
The P.A system in the big top uses less power than a hair dryer but still has a sound output equivalent to a 10KW P.A.

All caterers and market traders on site use renewable energy.

The bar uses hand pumps and all their lighting is low energy LEDs, powered by dedicated solar panels. The beer glasses handed out from the bar are biodegradable and are all collected and sorted during the event and returned to the supplier for composting.

To ensure the least possible impact on the environment from travel to the event, for every car that travels to the site we plant 3 Trees on and around the site. This creates a valuable habitat for wildlife and helps soak up CO2 emissions.

Keeping the festival sustainable
We want our festival to have as little impact on the environment as we can. To help us make this happen, we commissioned an Environmental Audit of our activities that showed that festival goers at last year’s Summer Party generated on average LESS THAN 50% of the CO2 than if they’d stayed at home and had a normal weekend!

Last year we collected, sorted and recycled enough waste at the event to give a Carbon Saving of nearly 8 Tonnes – and this is on top of the fact that all our electrical needs were met by zero carbon solar power!
But we don’t want to rest on our laurels! This year we will be striving to recycle even more, use more local suppliers to reduce the food miles, encourage more use of public transport and lift sharing schemes and drive down the environmental impact of the event year on year.
